What are Leipzigtrails?
The Leipzigtrails are guided business information tours. They give participants the chance to establish contacts, exchange information, network and develop opportunities with potential investors and other parties, that are interested in business cooperation with companies and institutions in Leipzig’s economic region.
Netzwerk Energie und Umwelt (NEU) e. V. (Network for Energy & Environmental Technology) arranges trips for interested parties on request and theses are organized by an event agency. The Leipzigtrails are part of the initiative: Smart Infrastructure Hub Leipzig.
We open doors for you: to Leipzig’s industrial companies, institutions of higher education, research institutions, and municipal authorities.
Our guided short expeditions, our trails, give you the opportunity to talk to potential business associates face to face, examine possible investment projects on-site or get involved in the city’s strong networks.
You will also get to know the city’s cultural, sporty, residential, and lovable side either individually or in groups of up to 12 participants.
Your trail will be structured
from your arrival via the various stations right on through to the cultural program.

The association, “Netzwerk Energie & Umwelt e.V. (NEU e.V.)” (Network for Energy & Environmental Technology), is responsible for the organization of Leipzigtrails in cooperation with the Smart Infrastructure Hub Leipzig. This association was founded in January 2011, on the initiative of the regional stakeholders in the Energy & Environmental Cluster of the City of Leipzig, which has been operating successfully for a number of years and has since taken over cluster management in close cooperation with the Office for Economic Development of the City of Leipzig.
The Smart Infrastructure Hub Leipzig focuses on the topics of energy, Smart City, eHealth and interdisciplinary technologies in the city. The innovative start-ups’ technologies are used to implement digital applications with partners from industry, science, and politics. In addition to the Free State of Saxony and the City of Leipzig as well as the universities (University of Leipzig, HTWK Leipzig, HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management), many companies from the region are also participating, including Verbundnetzgas AG, the European Energy Exchange EEX, the Leipzig Group, Porsche, DELL and arvato.
SpinLab – The HHL Accelerator is a program that assists start-ups with the launch of their products and financing and brings them together with established companies and investors. The establishment of a venture capital fund is generating private capital for early-stage start-ups in the region and for the expansion of existing premises and affordable rental space in a strong community in the west of Leipzig. The cross-university competence center Energy & Smart City pools research expertise and expands it with digital competencies.
